What to Enter
To increase the visibility of women, we encourage a broad range of submissions from industries, governments, civil societies, academics and communities that celebrate the diversity, talents, energy, and resilience of women at all levels of the mining industry. We encourage submissions that are bold, creative and send a powerful message of women’s roles in the industry. We invite images that depict women and male champions for diversity from across the mining value chain and associated industries from mine sites to corporate offices, from accountants to shot firers and in between, from artisanal mining to large scale mining, from institutions of learning to decision makers in government, from the industrial revolution to modern day technology, from women on boards to community workers – every image that is submitted is an important contribution to the collective movement on gender equality.
Equally important is the caption that should provide crucial information describing how and why the image celebrates “Impact and Influence” and the category.
The main category is the theme “Impact and Influence” with other minor categories being “Mentoring,” “Leadership” and “Initiative” and the People’s Choice. Images submitted under each category must reflect an element that category. Entrants must describe in their caption how and why the image celebrates the category.
Entrants can choose to submit their photo for the main prize or for one of the minor categories:
- Mentoring: Images must demonstrate the power and value of mentoring for personal and professional growth.
- Leadership: Images that demonstrate visionary drive, inspiring action, enabling positive change, coaching and team building.
- Initiative: Images that demonstrate addressing difficult issues with creative solutions.
